SIFESTIVAL - 1 & 2 September 2017

The time has come for the third edition of SIFESTIVAL, the independent short movie and animation festival that takes place in Sifnos, Greece during the summer period. This year, on September 1st and 2nd we are inviting filmmakers, audience and the local community to participate in an adventure that started as a romantic idea and has evolved to an international film festival. Over the past two years, we have shown more than 100 short movies, 3 documentaries, and 25 animation films, and have welcomed more than 1000 visitors.

As the previous years, we aim to diffuse films of great quality, that brings filmmakers together from every continent. We have been collaborating with festivals from all around the world, such as Lago Film Festival, as well as the IFA, The French Institut of Athens,  Seves film a short film distributor or production companies such as Eroin. We have also put an open call out for movies: You can still send your films until August 10th!

We are quite proud of our audience, and especially of the youth of Sifnos: kids of every age are always at the first rang, to fully appreciate the experience. After the projections, we are often organizing debates, as happened last year with the filmmaker Basile Doganis, a new talent in the movie industry, that showed the movie "Citizen Day" in August 2016.

This year the projections will take place in Artemonas Central Square, a paramount location that will attract as many visitors as possible. As always, we will be including movies from around the world, with special attention to the young Greek filmmakers. We will be showing the film "Cube", by Alexander Skouras, "The Fox", by Jacqueline Lentzou, and "Young Fish", by Chrysanthos Margonis. We are confident that these new short films will soon be awarded in numerous festivals around the world.

We owe the local community of Sifnos a great deal, as well as the scenery of the island. As with the first two editions of the festival, we are proud to be projecting our movies on the walls of a very picturesque church, surrounded by the beautiful village of Artemonas. It is a sight of sore eyes, and we definitely realise the challenge in showing our films there. We hope to be up to the task!

Please check our website regularly, as you will be finding news regarding the festival in the course of the summer.

See you in Sifnos!

We also want to thank warmly all our partners from 2016 without their generous support we couldn't keep this event alive.
